Film Reflection- Middle of Nowhere

Middle of Nowhere

My reflective response conveys the hidden anxiety in romantic relationships. Although gender norms can contradict with personal experience that involve with love. However, the poem on top of the movie poster is a poem that I wrote after a break up.

Love is something that can’t be explained, and can affect a person’s individuality.

In the film, the leading actress experiences two versions of heartbreak that include losing herself as well as her husband cheating on her. Although infidelity is a harmful element in a relationship, it not only brought stress but gave the character to make peace with herself and find happiness. Throughout the poem, I personify the feeling of evolving while being oblivious to time. This feeling brings attention towards how love distracts others from making the best decision for themselves. The elimination of selfishness introduces loneliness when there isn’t a person to take care of. Furthermore, this film uses this theme and matches it with being incarcerated. Both the protagonist and her husband encounter the same feeling of being alone.
